Near miss while driving…?
Today I nearly got run off the road by this old man who clearly doen’t know hoe to drive properly. I was in the outside lane (overtaking) when he suddenly without warning or any signals pulled over infront of me making me break hard to avoid hitting him. Then when he realised what he had done he again without warning pulled back into his lane nearlly causing a pile up for the next car. Several of us had to break heavy and two cars and to swerve to avoid a pile up. Good job we were all paying attention. When i eventually over took him I saw he was an elderly man and he could barly see over the steering wheel.
Have any of you had any near misses and if so can you tell me about them?
Hi, yes i rang the police. I discribed the car and the elderly man but I didn’t get time to get his number plate as my turning came up otherwise i would of held on and definatly got that.
Like the other two professional drivers said… I also see my fair share of near misses daily.
This past week I was driving through downtown Tampa, FL on a highway…. everyone had to brake suddenly and heavily as we came over a small rise in the road and found stopped traffic in front of us. I signaled to the left lane as to avoid a possible rear end accident from the car behind me, and a car traveled from the on ramp, across two lanes of traffic, and almost ended up between the rear mounted forklift on my trailer and the concrete barrier on the left. I was able to recover and stop before they were crushed.
I can truthfully state that that accident… if it had happened would not have been my fault. People don’t always realize what is involved with driving a commercial vehicle… weight, length, blind spots. I can’t figure out why in other cases people pass on the right when there is a perfectly good left lane to use?!?!?! Unless you’re exiting.
