Why do dogs circle around one spot when trying to get comfortable?
My dog is laying on a pile of clothes right now and she keeps getting up and circling around and around? She has done it like 6 times now, but not changing spots. What gives?
it has to do with their comfort. when my lab lies down he circles a few times. he may dig at the floor or blankets, and then lay down. he is just trying to “feel out” the area he will be laying on. before dogs were domesticated they did this ritual prior to laying down on the ground to make sure that there wasn’t anything that would make them uncomfortable, like rocks or small mounds, etc..
