My 2 year old mini dachshund is house trained, but he always pees when we put him in his kennel to go out. ?
He is a little neurotic and has some attachment problems. We tried to crate train him right from the spot, but we apparently did something wrong. When we are home he asks to go out by scratching at the door. He can go up to eight hours at home without going out, but the second we put him in the kennel and leave, he pees. We have tried leaving him in the house, but he pees on a blanket or a pile of clothes or a cushion. I’d like to enjoy him for many years, but this is terrible.
Dachshunds are a stubborn breed…With that, they will tell you when they don’t like something you’re doing. I think he is telling you that he does not like it when you go away and leave him alone by himself in his kennel. My Dachshund is just 2 now and great at letting me know when she needs to go potty…But 2 times now she has peed on my bed when I am gone. Since I know how long she can make it, I know she was just upset that I left her. I try to get a lot of exercise for her on the days that I have more time and I know I have to leave her in the next day or 2. The challeges of training a Dachshund….Welcome!!
