what does my poem mean?

I didn’t need it. I needed them, the ones who care. I don’t want any of this. This life I’ve convinced myself I need. All the things, they don’t matter, they don’t make me better. They just mask the hurt until it finds its way back up. I don’t know what it is. The masks won’t last forever. They pile on heavier and heavier till no one can see the real me. The masks are beautiful and contagious but I want them gone. I want to find what I’m missing. Today was the day I thought I needed.
I didn’t.

It proabably means that you don’t want to fake being anyone….

but I thought this was prose the first time I read it.
