Why does my cat bleed from his anus?
It only happens after he poos. It’s red and seems to be coming from the anus itself and not inside him. He otherwise seems very healty, playful, and happy. He only eats cat food and has a regular apetite. Is it possible that it’s just cat hemroids or something?
Taking him to the vet is the best idea, but if a hard stool is causing small tears in the anus, you can soften his stool by giving him 1/4 teaspoon Metamusil in a tablespoon of soft canned food. While a diet of dry food is best for a cat (it keeps their teeth in better shape) adding a little soft food with a bulking agent can help. My cat used to get constipated but the Metamusil once a day cured it and he lived to be a week shy of 23.
