I sometimes find small poop clumps arount the house. They are mushy not hard like the poop in the litter box?
My cat is 9 months old and I stepped in a mushy poop today and there wass another yeaterday. This happens about once or twice a week.
She also throws up about every two weeks or so. Is this normal cat stuff?
It wasn’t a full pile of poop. It could have been stuck to her hair and fell off, but I just want to find out what constitutes normal behavior.
This doesn’t like a poop – it sounds like a hairball – especially when you say she throws up. Hairballs look very similar to poop – they’re a mass of hair mixed with other gunk from the stomach.
Do you GROOM your cat? Lack of grooming is the reason for a cat getting hairballs. The more loose hairs a cat licks off itself while grooming the more hairs it swallows and hence, hairballs that accumulate in the stomach. If this is a longhaired cat use a COMB – not a brush – to thoroughly comb the coat at LEAST every other day. This will remove the loose, dead hairs of the undercoat. If this is a shorthaired cat use a slicker brush or Zoom Groom brush to remove the dead hairs and do so at least once a week – more until you get the shedding under control.
To help ease hairballs through a cat’s system try switching the cat to a food with hairball remedy built in or adding a hairball treatment to its diet. Royal Canin Persian 30 is an excellent dry food. My Persian eats this and in two years he’s NEVER had a hairball. If your cat is shedding excessively this could also be signs of a poor diet or vitamin deficiency so you may want to schedule a vet visit for it to be checked out.
