What doctor do you go to see for hemorrhoids?
Will general practice work? Or is it something specific?
I work for a GENERAL SURGEON and we see patients routinely for hemorrhoidal issues; whether they require surgery intervention or simply a prescription medicine treatment.
You can start with your regualr family doctor; especially if your insurance requires you to have a referral to see a “specialist”. Otherwise you should be able to see a general surgeon at your leisure. Remember, though, that surgery is your last resort….you should try to treat things conservatively first. And, also a note: Not all issues related to the anus/rectum are always hemorrhoids…..there are other possibilities such as a rectal fissure, a rectal fistula…
But, only a trained specialist would be able to determine this upon examination. So go ahead and make an appointment, recetifying the situation may be easier than you think.
